Get to Know Us

The Youth Resource Centre is an integrated one-stop Centre that provides a wide range of social, health, education, employment and life skills services to youths of the community. It was establish to provide empowerment through the sharing of information and knowledge. The Centre provides a walk-in youth friendly environment to allow youths access a range of referrals and information services for free as well as a safe and encouraging environment for our youth to explore their full potential.

The Centre caters for a broad range of young people ages of 4 - 28, equipping them with the creativity, energy and leadership capacity our community needs to grow and thrive. The Centre was incorporated as a Non-Profit Organization in October, 2013 and opened to the public on the 6th of February, 2014.

The Centre is manned by 3 staff - The Manager, the Facility/Programs Coordinator and the Front-desk Officer - and a number of good hearted volunteers.

Our Goals

Improve educational standard on the island by providing a resource library with a conducive studying environment.
Promote the reading culture among youths in the community.
Increase the Information and Communication Technology awareness amongst the youths.
Educate the youths on educational opportunities available to them.
Guide the youths on positive life choices and challenge them for the best through personal counselling and mentoring.
Promote healthy living among youths by organizing health and fitness programs.
Encourage a sense of communal service among the youths by providing community volunteerism opportunities.

Meet the YRC Board of Trustees

This is the current board of the Apex Youth Resource Foundation which operates the Youth Resource Centre.

The new board was took over the affairs of the foundation in July of 2023.

The Board was setup to support the operational team of the Centre with strategic intent and operational insights. Also ensuring that the sustainability and growth of the Centre is kept in focus in line with her vision and mission. The Board ensures that the operations of the Centre meets budgetary, legal and regulatory requirements. The Board is made up of 4 members including the Centre Director.

Over 30 years management and leadership experience in Oil and Gas, IT, Banking, Security Printing and Manufacturing. Areas of experience include Oil and Gas Contracts, Human Resources, IT/Telecoms, Brand and Reputation Management, Sustainable Development, Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Public Relations.

Executive Director

Dr Excel Ukpohor

A Business/Organizational Excellence Strategist, Operations Technologist, Training Consultant and Youth Life Coach with over 15 years of corporate experience working in different portfolios spanning core process operations, activities coordination, long-term asset planning, asset management and process development. I am currently the Lead, Non-Technical Interface Management for the multibillion NLNG Train 7 Project.

Se-alabo Abel Attoni

The Chief is a versatile community leader and business guru. Chief Abel has acted as the Bonny Chief Council Secretary managing the various organs architecture of the community. He is a business expert managing various port folios in the oil and gas industry spanning from logistics to general services.

Lolo Sax Hailsham

Board Member

Lolo is a passionate social entrepreneur. She runs a consultancy outfit which focuses on youth development and empowerment. She serves in various committees within the Bonny Kingdom such as the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee and the Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee. She is currently a lecturer at the Rivers State University.

Ayodeji Omitogun

Board Member

Ayo is an experienced Senior Business Financial Analyst with a demonstrated history of working in the oil & energy industry. Strong finance professional, who is skilled in Internal Audit, Financial Accounting, External Audit, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Auditing, Financial analysis and Supply-chain management.

Victoria Afun

Board Member

A dynamic IT and Cybersecurity Specialist, with over 8 years of working experience in various roles in the IT and Management sectors. Victoria has deep commitment for youth development .

She is passionate about the Youth Resource Centre and is ready to commit her time to serving in the board.

Oluwatosin Oshimoji

Board Member

Result-oriented Lead Maintenance Support Engineer with more than nineteen years combined in the oil and Gas Industry. Skilled in Instrumentation Maintenance and Planning Professional with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Engineering Management
